Although this seems like the more likely release window, it is still pure speculation, and that is incredibly frustrating for the many fans who have been waiting to know the game's status. With no word from Team Cherry on when a new release is expected, many are now hoping 2024 is the year Hollow Knight: SIlksong finally launches. There are plenty of games in the past that were in development limbo for far longer and eventually launched, like Dead Island 2, but with Hollow Knight: Silksong getting an announcement trailer in 2019 and then a gameplay demo last year in 2022, it's strange that there hasn't been any more news when previous updates implied that the game had a decent amount of work finished. Another gameplay demo or some sort of presentation on what will set Hollow Knight: Silksong apart from the first game would help satiate fans. Although a surprise release would be great, that doesn't mean regular updates should be left to the wayside. The lack of updates and news could possibly be a strategic move on Team Cherry's part. However, this silence could also mean Team Cherry is looking to shadow-drop Hollow Knight: Silksong when fans least expect it. If a date can't be pinned down, news on a targeted release window would be a better update than nothing. Games being delayed is nothing new, but there currently hasn't been any new release date given to fans, and this has caused some frustration for those who have been patiently waiting for more information. After the game missed its early 2023 deadline, Team Cherry's PR and Marketing spokesperson Matthew Griffin gave a small update on the status of Hollow Knight: Silksong, stating that the game was originally slated for an early 2023 release, but due to the expansive size of the title, it had to be pushed back.
